FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you make cakes for people with special dietary requirements?

Yes, all of our wedding and celebration cakes can be made 'without gluten' or 'without nuts'. We do however use products containing allergens in our kitchen using the same equipment (which is cleaned thoroughly) so we cannot guarantee traces of allergens will not be in the cake. We also offer 'without dairy' and vegan cupcakes.

Do you deliver?

Yes, wedding cakes can be delivered within a two hour drive of our kitchen and we offer this service for single-tier and multi-tier cakes. Delivery and set-up charges apply. You can also collect single-tier and some two-tier cakes by appointment from our kitchen. We also deliver celebration cakes, cupcakes and treats locally within 15 miles of our kitchen in north Swindon. Delivery is free within 5 miles of SN25 2RN and there is a small charge for 5 - 15 miles. Collection is also available by appointment.

Do you offer cake stand hire?

Yes, if you are purchasing a cake from us we have a range of cake stands available for wedding cakes, celebration cakes and dessert tables. Please ask for more details of styles suitable for your cake. Hire is £20 for plus a refundable damage deposit, cake stands must be returned to us within 3 days of the wedding or event (we do not collect from the venue).

Do you make everything yourself?

Yes, everything is made by hand by Alison in our cake kitchen including sugar flowers, cupcake toppers (so all the little hearts, chocolate bars etc) and dessert table items. The only things we don't make are preserves, sprinkles and acrylic cake toppers.

How much notice do you need?

We only make a maximum of 2 - 3 wedding cakes per week to ensure they are of the highest quality. Wedding cakes are typically ordered 12 - 18 months in advance of the wedding and peak dates get booked up very quickly, however we do our best to accommodate orders with less notice. For celebration cakes, cupcakes and treats we require a minimum 14 days notice but we try to accommodate last minute orders whenever possible. We have less availabily during the peak wedding season. If you would like a custom cake topper for your cake, additional notice may be required depending on the supplier.

Why are your prices higher than some other cake makers?

If your cake design is not within your budget, we can work with you to design other options for a more suitable price range. Our pricing reflects our level of skill, quality of finish and the quality of ingredients used. All of our cakes are completely bespoke and made by hand by Alison. We believe in only using the best quality ingredients such as organic free-range eggs, organic cocoa, premium Swiss fondant, real butter, organic cocoa, premium flour and the finest Belgian chocolate. We make all of our own curds, caramels, pralines and fillings from scratch. We pride ourselves on our outstanding customer service from initial enquiry, through to making and delivering your cake. We are trying to run our business in the most sustainable way possible and some more eco-friendly procucts and processes are slightly more expensive.

Do you make novelty or themed cakes?

Unfortunatley we do not make novelty wedding cake designs or modelled toppers. This requires a specialist skill set and our expertise is in modern elegant designs, especially with floral details. We are also not able to offer character celebration cakes due to trademark restrictions, but can design with a colour or theme in mind and you can purchase your own licenced topper to add to the cake. Examples of themes we love are unicorns, mermaids and animals.

Do you offer wedding cakes for small weddings?

Yes, we are happy to offer single-tier and two-tier cakes for small intimate celebrations. Our bespoke design service is the same for small and large weddings so you can have a beautiful design regardless of how many guests will attend. We also offer a range of dessert table items and edible wedding favours which can compliment your cake.

How much do your cakes cost?

Can you make me the design in this picture?

Due to copyright we cannot copy another cake makers exact design without their permission. Each cake designer also has their own handwriting and specialist area of skills and specialist equipment used. We can however look at elements of cake designs you like and incorporate these into the design. It's not every day that you get to commission a bespoke cake, so lets make something that's completley unique to you and your event.
